Helen Evora

British-Cuban Mezzo Helen Évora was awarded a full Scholarship to train at the Guildhall School of Music & Drama. Her versatility is reflected in her wide-ranging repertoire in Opera, Music Theatre, Oratorio, and Song. Recent stage experience includes Little Red Riding Hood Into the Woods in the highly-acclaimed new co-production between Opera North & the West Yorkshire Playhouse;  Annina Der Rosenkavalier for Opera North; Anita West Side Story at Greenwich Theatre; Maddalena Rigoletto; Sally Bowles Cabaret; title role Carmen; Kate/Lilli (cover) Kiss me, Kate! for Opera North;  Rosina The Barber of Seville; Mrs Mullin & Arminy Carousel Opera North; Dorabella Cosi fan tutte; Cathleen in Riders to the Sea; and Lady Angela Patience at the King’s Head Theatre, London.

Concert highlights include a sparkling New Year’s Eve Gala with the British Philharmonic Orchestra; Rossini’s Petite Messe Solennelle in Valencia; Opera Galas aboard the Queen Mary II; and the Mozart Requiem at London’s Cadogan Hall.

This Season at Opera North, Helen is delighted to be covering the lead female role – Dinah – in Bernstein’s Trouble in Tahiti; in addition to singing the role of Young Widow in Osud; and Louis XV Chair/Cat/Owl (cover) in Ravel’s L’enfant et les Sortileges.

Alongside Oliver Rundell at the piano, Helen closes this year’s Festival with a Cabaret evening.
